Lucy came down on the Accommodation Train but returned home again this afternoon -- Major Dawes is still in Cincinnati on duty as a member of a Court Martial. Dr. Blackman is absent from the city. Capt. Percy of the 53d O.V.V.I. a friend of Ephe’s was killed in one of the battles before Atlanta. William left Mrs. Cutler & Sarah in Cincinnati. They are to go with Maggie to visit friends near Ripley O. The copperheads have been loudly threatening to resist the draft -- it was said that in Dunham Township they had organized to do so, but now they are very busy getting recruits to free Dunham from a draft, perhaps they feared the effect of an outbreak upon the coming election -- or maybe their courage failed them.
